Very nice quality, private purchase, Luftwaffe blue/grey, wool construction waist length, Bolero/Spencer style, double breasted tunic with a subtle whipcord weave features upswept, peak lapels and a small, lay down collar. The tunic has a vertical row of four, small, silver washed, pebbled, magnetic sheet metal, ornamental buttons positioned to each side of the front opening. The tunic was designed to remain open and has two, horizontal, slash button eyelets at the forward waistline, with a corresponding, retaining shackle chain with dual, small, silver washed, pebbled, magnetic sheet metal closure buttons (not fixed on the chain). The right breast has a nice hand embroidered national eagle with out-stretched wings, clutching a canted swastika in one talon, in bright, silver/aluminum wire threads with bright, silver bullion and pale grey rayon accent threads, mounted on a cut-out Luftwaffe blue/grey wool base. The eagle is neatly handstitched to the tunic. The right breast also has a post-April 1935, Officer’s dress aiguillette that consists of bright, heavy, interwoven, silver/aluminum braid and an additional two, straight, silver/aluminum braids. Smock is constructed of waterproofed mid-weight cotton/rayon blend material with printed TAN/WATER pattern camouflage .Smock features a five button French fly type front closure, resulting in the buttons being hidden and un-obstructive when closed. Some buttons are original stitched, others are replaced. Smock has a diagonally angled slash pocket to either side of front closure running from the shoulder seam to mid-breast. Pockets have large, white \"big tooth\", zippers and stitched down protective flaps, but I thinkd these grey leather flaps got replaced within the years. Breast eagle was taken down after the war. Lay down collar also has the typical period zig-zag reinforcement stitching to reverse. Smock also has a horizontal slash hip pocket to either side of the front closure with the large zippers as the others ones and also replaced stitched down protective flaps. Reverse tail skirt with short vertical slash. Bottom edge of tail skirt has six, evenly spaced, \"Prym 6\", snaps to secure tail skirt around upper thighs like the earlier pattern \"step-in\" models of smocks. Side seams each have a vertical darted opened slash with an extended horizontal fabric closure tab with snap fasteners. When opened the vertical side seam slashes reveals three vertical stitched eyelets at waist line for the belt support hooks. Rear right seat for flare pistol pocket is missing. Left tail skirt has a horizontal loop for additional equipment. Opened vented armpits. Sleeve cuffs have a small vertical slash to outside seams with dual snap fit adjustment. Interior of cuffs with grey rayon storm cuffs with tunnel looped elastic and dual snap fit adjustment. Unlined interior with tunnel looped fit adjustment strap at waistband and grey rayon reinforcements to reverse of flare pistol pocket and left tail skirt loop. Interior pocket bags are in tan cotton twill and cover most of the internal breast and lower hip areas. Left breast pocket bag well marked with black inkstamped RB number and issue markings. The smocks were designed large enough to fit over the basic uniform Hard to find original tan water pattern smock in original untought condition, different traces of usage and small damages , but this is an original piece.
